Jack and Lauren run this coffee house at 6 Upperkirkgate in Aberdeen, describing what they have built as an outdoor experience, inside. Her interest in cafe culture came from travelling east to Bali; his came from drinking strong dark-roasted coffee in Texas. Both are hill walkers, Munro climbers and runners. Open 8.30 to 4 Monday to Friday, and 10 to 4 on Saturday and Sunday.

Aberdeen Ceramics Studio
Aberdeen Ceramics Studio occupies a unit at Deemouth Business Centre in Torry, set up by a team of Gray's School of Art graduates and tutors who wanted a kiln-equipped studio open to the whole city. Two of its instructors, AJ Simpson and Matthew Wilcock, each won Channel 4's Great Pottery Throw Down in separate series. The studio runs handbuilding and wheel-throwing courses from two-week tasters to eight-week programmes, alongside memberships giving access to four kilns for private firings. Sunday sessions run 10am to 6pm, with evening classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The Silver Darling
The Silver Darling occupies the former Customs House at the mouth of Aberdeen harbour, on Pocra Quay in Footdee. Chef Didier Dejean, who had moved to Aberdeen from the south of France, opened the restaurant here in 1986 and ran it for more than thirty years before selling in 2017. The upstairs dining room has floor-to-ceiling windows looking over the beach, harbour mouth and Fittie's cottages, with dolphins occasionally visible offshore in summer. The kitchen focuses on Scottish seafood and shellfish alongside Aberdeen Angus beef, drawing on French and Mediterranean technique from the founder's training. It has featured regularly in the Good Food Guide and remains one of the city's longest-established fine dining rooms. Lunch service runs from noon to two, dinner from five to nine.

House of Elrick Gin Distillery
House of Elrick Gin is distilled on the grounds of the Elrick estate near Newmachar, next to the property's listed walled garden. Stuart Ingram bought the estate in 2014 and built a purpose-built distillery there, bringing production back to a house that had fallen out of family use, with the gin first released in 2018. Each batch is limited to around 600 bottles, distilled with seven botanicals including juniper, angelica root, sweet fennel and rose petals alongside citrus peel and pink peppercorns. The estate offers distillery tours explaining the process from botanical selection to bottling, run by the family who still live at Elrick House. The business operates from this single estate site only, with no separate bars or shops elsewhere, and bottles are sold online and through independent stockists rather than a chain of its own.
